Welcome to Curatif Behavioral Health, my name is Schevon “Schevy” Pierre, and I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, who is board certified to see individuals across the life span. I completed my Associates of Arts degree in Psychology in 2007, and an Associates in Science in Nursing in 2009 from Polk State College in Winter Haven, FL. I subsequently received my Registered Nurse licensure in Florida, in 2010. I then pursued a BSN from Florida Southwestern State College in Ft. Myers, Florida in 2013. I went on to attain a Master’s Degree in Science (Nursing), with a specialty in Psychiatry, in 2017 from Florida International University in Miami, FL in 2017.

Passion found...

I began my journey in nursing in Psychiatric Units, moved to the area of Cardiology, and did a full circle back to Psychiatry. The day I first stepped into the Psychiatry department at Lakeland Regional Memorial Hospital, I confirmed my passion.  In Psychiatry, I learned that giving of myself, listening, and caring, without judgement, was necessary to facilitate a therapeutic relationship, and to help my clients heal. I have a family member who suffers with schizophrenia, so I have personal experience with the struggles of the person who suffers with mental illness. I can also empathize with the heart aches of the family who try to be supportive, and often lose hope. I am grateful to be able to do what I love, and make a difference in the lives of others. I love being a PMHNP, as I get to do what I love, while making a difference in the lives of others. I get to work with clients to determine a course of action to address their needs, and help them realize those goals.

On a personal note…

I was born and raised in Trinidad, and Tobago, twin islands in the Caribbean, that is world-renowned for its multi-cultural heritage, Carnival, and its varied cuisine. My friends will tell you that my most frequent phrase is: “No worries”. It is a part of my personal outlook, as I fully believe that there is a solution for every difficult situation we may face - it just takes work to find it sometimes, and finding solutions; that is my passion. When I’m not caring for clients, I can usually be found fishing with the hubby, gardening, cooking or curled up with a good book.
